I should like to assure the Deputy that the likely implications of 1992 are fully taken into consideration in all aspects of policy in my Department.
In my Department responsibility for continuing activity under the programme initiated by the EUROPEN Bureau is with the EC section. That section has been assigned responsibility for co-ordinating information of all aspects of 1992 impacting on the monetary, economic and financial areas. It acts also as a source of information on all queries on 1992 directed to this Department.
The Department have also contributed, as appropriate, in the preparation of the series of sectoral studies which looked specifically at the impact of the Single Market on the most important sectors of the economy. Earlier this year a seminar on EC public procurement measures was organised in collaboration with the EC Commission.
With funding from the EC Commission, a study has been commissioned from the ESRI on "The Role of the Structural Funds: Analysis and consequnces for Ireland in the context of 1992".
I am keeping under review the need for inclusion of further measures in the programme of work/activities in this area to take account of progress towards 1992.
