Written Answers. - National Agriculture Aids in EC.

Ceist:

64 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will outline the controls that exist within the EC on state aid by member Governments to their domestic agricultural sectors; and if any figures are available on (a) the accumulated cost of such aids in comparison with the cost of the Common Agricultural Policy and (b) the amount of such aid received per acre, or per farmer, in each member state.

The controls which apply to the grant of national aid by member states of the EC to their domestic agricultural sectors are set out in Articles 92 and 93 of the EEC Treaty. The statistical data requested by the Deputy is not available in my Department.
