Vol. 400 No. 6

Written Answers. - Worker Participation Legislation.

Patrick McCartan

Ceist:

25 Mr. McCartan asked the Minister for Labour if he has any plans to extend the scope of the worker participation legislation to allow for the election of workers' representatives to the boards of those companies not now covered by the legislation such as RTE; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The Worker Participation (State Enterprises) Acts, 1977, and 1988, provide for the election of worker directors to the boards of eleven State companies as well as for sub-board arrangements in these and a further 24 State enterprises. There is, therefore, a wide range of worker participation in the semi-State sector.

I have no plans to extend the legislation at the moment.
