184 Mr. Ryan asked the Minister for the Environment , in view of the higher cost of non-bituminous coal compared to bituminous coal, if he will outline any proposals he has to reduce the cost to the consumer when the ban on bituminous coal comes into effect.

I have no function in relation to the price of fuels. The Minister for Social Welfare has already announced details of arrangements to help social welfare recipients meet additional costs arising from the purchase of smokeless fuels in the restricted area of Dublin.
