Ceist:54 Mrs. Owen asked the Minister for Energy the current level of losses from the urban gas network; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
Written Answers. - Gas Network Losses.
Currently, losses stand at 2.5 per cent of sales both within the Dublin area and in the southern region. These losses from the BGE network are well within internationally accepted norms. The board's safety practices, including those relating to gas losses, are monitored on an ongoing basis by my Department and I am satisfied with progress achieved in this area.
