Ceist:

101 Miss Quill asked the Minister for the Environment the compensation payments for damage which have been paid by the Exchequer under (i) Exchequer payments attributed to disturbances in Northern Ireland (ii) Exchequer payments not attributed to disturbances in Northern Ireland and (iii) local authority payments including those attributed to disturbances in Northern Ireland for the years 1986 to 1989.

It is assumed that the Deputy is referring to payment of malicious injuries claims by local authorities under the Malicious Injuries Acts, 1981 and 1986, for malicious damage to property. The total amounts paid by local authorities and the amounts subsequently recouped by the Exchequer to the local authorities are set out in the following table:
