Vol. 401 No. 6

Written Answers. - Ballinrobe (Mayo) Traffic Point.

Enda Kenny

Ceist:

207 Mr. Kenny asked the Minister for Education if her attention has been drawn to the difficulties that have arisen regarding the provision of a safe and adequate turning place at the new community school, Ballinrobe, County Mayo; if her attention has further been drawn to the fact that her Department are not complying with the originally agreed proposals for same; if she will remedy the situation; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

My Department has not received any communication regarding the off-street turning place at Ballinrobe community school. My Department's senior architect will be shortly meeting with the board of management and the design team and will discuss with them, inter alia, the turning-space for vehicular traffic. The initial proposal from the design team in that context was to locate the turning space inside the school grounds but this was superseded by the present arrangement which, for safety reasons, complies with the Department's current practice in this matter.
