Ceist:41 Mr. Quinn asked the Minister for Defence the number of FCA members who are currently engaged on a full-time basis for periods of (a) up to five years; (b) five to ten years; (c) ten to 15 years; and (d) 15-20 years.
Vol. 402 No. 2
41 Mr. Quinn asked the Minister for Defence the number of FCA members who are currently engaged on a full-time basis for periods of (a) up to five years; (b) five to ten years; (c) ten to 15 years; and (d) 15-20 years.
The practice of employing FCA personnel on full-time security duties has been discontinued and there are now no members of that force serving on a full-time basis.
Given the shortage of personnel in the Permanent Defence Force at various times and the pressures on them, would the Minister envisage members of the FCA being assigned to these duties in the future?
It happens from time to time but as of now there is no necessity for it. They are available if necessary.
