Vol. 402 No. 2

Written Answers. - Ballygar, Galway, School Accommodation.

Paul Connaughton

Ceist:

65 Mr. Connaughton asked the Minister for Education if she has approved the building of a new extension to replace old dilapidated prefabricated classrooms at St. Mary's College, Ballygar, County Galway; if she accepts the futility of repairing the existing structures; if the drawings and design plans for the new extension, as provided by the school authorities are acceptable to her Department; if the school management board will have to examine all the various stages from the policy review to the tendering of contracts; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

I have not approved the building of a new extension but I am aware of the situation at St. Mary's College, Ballygar and I am having the school's requirements examined. In fact officials from my Department visited the school this week and I will consider the matter further when I have examined their report.
