Ceist:143 Mr. Dukes asked the Minister for Education the amount of funding which her Department has provided to Kildare Vocational Education Committee in each of the last five years.
Written Answers. - Kildare VEC Funding.
The current funding provided to County Kildare VEC from my Department for the five years from 1985 to 1989 inclusive is as follows: 1985 — £4,237,523; 1986 — £4,782,476; 1987 — £5,092,321; 1988 — £4,443,161; and 1989 — £4,414,964.
It is necessary to point out that repayments to the local loans fund by the VEC ceased as from 1 May 1988. In addition as from 1 January 1988 the ESF middle level technician grants for students were paid direct to the third level colleges rather than via the individual VECs as had been the case previously.
