40 Mr. Stagg asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he intends to propose that a programme of direct income aids be included in Ireland, under Council Regulation EEC 768/89 and EC Commission Regulation 3813/89; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
My Department is at present carrying out an examination of all the issues involved in the EC scheme of direct income aids, as set out in Council Regulation (EEC) 768/89 and Commission Regulation (EEC) 3813/89, as amended by Commission Regulation 1279/90 of 15 May 1990. A decision on the introduction of direct income aids cannot be made in advance of the completion of that review.
