Vol. 402 No. 5

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Bernard J. Durkan

Ceist:

156 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for the Environment the reason a house improvement grant payable to a person (details supplied) in County Kildare was reduced by £2,037 when the actual cost of the work was only £398 less than the estimated cost as per grant specification; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

This application related to the building of an extension and the carrying out of repairs to the house. The amount of the grant approved — £1,945 — for the extension has been paid. Information provided by the applicant indicates that the actual cost of the repairs done was £2,500; a grant of £1,667, being two-thirds of the cost, has been paid in respect of the repairs. In the event that the applicant expended more on the repairs than he has already indicated, he should provide details to the Department and the case will then be further examined.
