189 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education if further consideration can be given to the application for a higher education grant in the case of a person (details supplied) in County Kildare who failed to qualify on income grounds initially but who may now qualify; and if she will make a statement on the matter.
My Department has made inquiries in this case and the position is that the local authority concerned in this instance has written to the applicant indicating, that the question of eligibility for a higher education grant on grounds of means would be reviewed on receipt of up-to-date documentary evidence of parental income. It is understood that the candidate has not yet provided any fresh evidence of parental income.
