Vol. 402 No. 5

Written Answers. - Celbridge (Kildare) School.

Bernard J. Durkan

Ceist:

219 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education if she proposes to approve the appointment of a board of management at Aghards national school, Celbridge, County Kildare; if so, when; whether it is intended to reappoint the previous board of management; if a future board of management would be similar in structure to the previous board; to whom the duties of a board of management are devolved at present; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

In accordance with normal practice under the rules for national schools, the recognition of a board of management for Aghards national school will be considered when the proposed membership is notified to the Department by the patron.

For a school of this size the membership of the board would consist of four representatives of the patron, two members elected by the body of parents, the principal and one other teacher elected by the staff.

Pending the appointment of a new board, the duties of a board are carried out by the manager nominated by the patron, which in this case is the Rev. Patrick Carmody, Parish Priest.
