Vol. 402 No. 5

Written Answers. - Dublin Rape Crisis Centre.

Patrick McCartan

Ceist:

61 Mr. McCartan asked the Minister for Finance if his attention has been drawn to the substantial increase in the workload of the Dublin Rape Crisis Centre in the current year; if he will be in a position to make any contribution to the finances of the centre in the future by way of a repeat of the award in the Budget of 1990; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

A special allocation of £150,000 was made available by the Government this year to support the valuable work of the Rape Crisis Centres in Dublin, Limerick, Cork, Clonmel, Waterford and Galway. Of this allocation, £50,000 was made available to the Dublin centre.

The question of providing financial assistance in this regard again next year is a matter for consideration in the context of the Government's deliberations on the 1991 budgetary package.
