Vol. 402 No. 5

Written Answers. - Fish Farms.

Eamon Gilmore

Ceist:

78 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for the Marine if he will outline whether fish farms, operating in Inver Bay, County Donegal, are licensed.

The process of licensing for the four fish farms operating in Inver Bay, which is an area designated for aquaculture purposes under the Fisheries Act 1980, is nearing completion. This process is in line with the Government's intention, as signalled in the Environmental Action Programme, launched earlier this year, to bring all such projects fully within the licensing framework by end 1991. Additional resources have been allocated to that task within my Department and my objective is to complete the necessary work well in advance of that deadline.
