Vol. 402 No. 7

Written Answers. - Fuel Price Increases.

Austin Deasy

Ceist:

21 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will outline the price increase of the different fuels since the commencement of the Gulf crisis; and the additional revenue the State is gaining as a result of this.

As the Deputy will appreciate, I am in a position to provide official data only in respect of products which are subject to maximum prices orders.

Since August 1990, the maximum prices permitted by these orders have increased as follows: premium petrol and unleaded petrol — +8.1 pence per litre; auto diesel — +9.8 pence per litre. These changes include a reduction in the maximum price of premium and unleaded petrol in the most recent order of 1.9 pence per litre.

Matters pertaining to duty and taxation levels and the revenue to the State are the responsibility of my colleague, the Minister for Finance.
