Ceist:5 Mr. J. Mitchell asked the Minister for Labour the number of redundancies notified to his Department for the first ten months of 1990; and the comparative figures for the same period in the years 1988 and 1989.

The total number of redundancies notified to my Department under the Redundancy payments Act for the first ten months of 1990 is 11,488. The corresponding figures of notifications for the same period in the years 1988 and 1989 were 19,593 and 11,546, respectively.
