Vol. 402 No. 8

Written Answers - Withholding of Paying Orders.

Enda Kenny

Ceist:

108 Mr. Kenny asked the Minister for Health the reason paying orders for suppliers are being withheld by agencies; and the amount in value which has been withheld by each health board and voluntary hospital as at 12 November, 1990.

The value of payments held by the health boards at 12 November was £23.1 million. The breakdown of the figures is as follows:

Health Board

£m

Eastern

12.4

Midland

2.2

Mid-Western

2.1

North-Eastern

1.5

North-Western

0.0

South-Eastern

0.4

Southern

4.5

Western

1.5

Total

23.1

The timing of the issue of creditors payments is a matter for each individual agency to decide. It should also be noted that in considering the above figures the amount outstanding to creditors on any particular date is related to the timing of payments rather than an indication of financial performance. The information on the voluntary hospitals is not readily available. I will however communicate with the Deputy on the matter as soon as possible.
