Vol. 402 No. 9

Written Answers. - Leinster House Heating Systems.

Alan Shatter

Ceist:

32 Mr. Shatter asked the Minister for Energy whether, as part of the national environment action programme and the new initiatives announced in the area of energy conservation, he will install an energy management system in Leinster House so as to ensure that the heating systems in the building can be properly controlled and the levels of heat generated increased and reduced in accordance with changes in the weather temperature.

The provision of heating equipment and of heating control equipment in Government buildings is primarily a matter for the Office of Public Works. However, my Department have engaged Eolas to carry out an energy audit of the Government Buildings complex, including the heating system in the Chamber. Most of the audit work has been completed and Eolas will submit their report to me within the next few weeks.

The conclusions reached will be conveyed to the Office of Public Works for consideration.
