52 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for Tourism and Transport if he will outline the provisional figures for the 1990 tourist season to date; the way this figure compares with the 1989 figure; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
The most recent figures for the 1990 tourist season published by the CSO covering the first nine months of the year show that 2.497 million overseas visitors came to Ireland, an increase of almost 14 per cent on the corresponding 1989 figure, keeping the sector firmly on course to meet the five year targets for 1988-1992 set out in the Programme for National Recovery.
