Vol. 403 No. 1

Written Answers. - Compensation for Reactor Cattle.

Noel Dempsey

Ceist:

122 Mr. Dempsey asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the arrangements he is making to ensure that farmers with reactor cattle are paid their compensation without delay.

Payment is made as soon as the relevant conditions of the scheme are met. Delays can occur in cases where herdowners have not complied fully with the conditions for reactor grant payments.

Ceist:

123 Mr. Dempsey asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when compensation for reactor cattle will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Meath.

Grants for reactors disclosed in November 1989 in the herd of the person named have been withheld as a result of the herdowner's non-compliance with the regulations of the TB eradication scheme.

However he has been informed if three consecutive clear TB tests were carried out on his herd payment of the outstanding grants will be considered. Two such tests have been carried out to date.
