Vol. 403 No. 1

Written Answers. - County Donegal Beach Pollution.

Eamon Gilmore

Ceist:

202 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for the Environment if, in view of the genuine fears held by many people in the Gweedore-Lower Rosses area of County Donegal in relation to the possible beach pollution from the outfall of Annagry sewerage scheme, he will consider making an extra capital allocation available to Donegal County Council for provision of a secondary treatment plant.

Work is in progress on the Annagry sewerage scheme on the basis of the design submitted to my Department by Donegal County Council, which does not provide for secondary treatment of effluent. Neither has the county council sought an extra capital allocation for additional treatment.
