Jimmy Deenihan
Ceist:45 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Justice if the Government intend bringing forward amending legislation on the issue of public liability in relation to the usage of public and private land.
Vol. 403 No. 1
45 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Justice if the Government intend bringing forward amending legislation on the issue of public liability in relation to the usage of public and private land.
159 Mr. Clohessy asked the Minister for Justice whether he has any proposals to amend the Civil Liability Acts, 1961-1964 so as to provide an immunity for farmers faced with occupier's liability/negligence actions brought by persons who claimed to have been injured on farm lands during the course of countryside walks or similar activities; his views on whether it is fair that farmers should find themselves exposed to the possibility of such actions given the absence of adequate insurance cover; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
161 Mr. McCartan asked the Minister for Justice if he has any proposals to amend or update the law on public liability with regard to public and private land in order to facilitate the practice and development of adventure sports in Ireland; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
I propose to take Questions Nos. 45, 159 and 161 together.
As I have explained in the House on previous occasions, I could not undertake to indicate by way of reply to parliamentary questions what specific proposals I might have in regard to amending legislation in a particular area. When there is a Government decision in the matter it will be announced in the usual way.
