Vol. 403 No. 1

Written Answers. - Kerry National Park.

John O'Leary

Ceist:

98 Mr. O'Leary asked the Minister for Finance the reason the toilets at the entrance to Muckross Abbey in the National Park, Killarney, County Kerry, are not open during the entire tourist season; and if he will make a statement on the matter, in view of the embarrassment caused to tour operators and tourists as a result.

The toilet block at the Muckross Abbey entrance has been closed since 1985 as it does not meet modern standards. It would be costly to adapt it to such standards and, as there was little demand for the facility, the cost could not be justified. No representations have been received from tour operators or tourists for the facility to be re-opened in the meantime.
