180 Mr. Cotter asked the Minister for the Environment if he will give the up-to-date position regarding the provision of an inner relief road for Carrickmacross, County Monaghan; whether the inner relief road is planned to follow the course of the river Proules; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

At present, a number of possible options to relieve traffic congestion in Carrickmacross are being discussed at technical level between officers of my Department and Monaghan County Council. These include an inner relief road, part of which would follow the line of the river Poules.
