186 Mr. Shatter asked the Minister for the Environment whether he intends to introduce legislation to ensure that those who act as presiding officers/poll clerks at EC, general and local elections are entitled to vote; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
There is already provision in electoral law which allows a returning officer to authorise a person employed by him in connection with a European, Dáil or local election to vote at a polling station other than his normal station where the person's duties in relation to the election prevent him voting at his normal station.
