Vol. 403 No. 4

Written Answers. - Social Worker for the Deaf.

Brendan Howlin

Ceist:

215 Mr. Howlin asked the Minister for Health the number of social workers for the deaf currently employed in each health board area; if he has satisfied himself with the current provision in this regard; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

There is one social worker employed in the Eastern Health Board area and four social workers employed in the Southern Health Board area with specific responsibility for the deaf.

In addition other social workers would also provide a social work service to deaf people as and when required.
