Vol. 403 No. 4

Written Answers. - Replacing of Portlean (Donegal) School.

Patrick D. Harte

Ceist:

241 Mr. Harte asked the Minister for Education if her attention has been drawn to the condition of Portlean national school, County Donegal which is in danger of collapsing; and, in view of the very serious situation which could arise, if she will order that the school be replaced as a matter of urgency.

I am aware of the situation in relation to Portlean national school, County Donegal which was brought to my attention very recently by the chairman of the board of management. I have arranged for my Department's professional staff to furnish a report in the matter which I will consider urgently when to hand. I wish to assure the Deputy that any works necessary to the existing premises to ameliorate the present situation will be implemented independently of any question of a new school building.
