Ceist:112 Mr. Bell asked the Minister for Finance the number of people promoted within their grades, while on extension, in each of the years from 1980 to 1990 in each grade in the Office of the Houses of the Oireachtas.

I am not clear as to what the Deputy means by "...promoted within their grades....". Promotion necessarily involves progression from one grade to a higher grade. I understand that no officer in the Office of the Houses of the Oireachtas was promoted while on extension of service beyond the normal retiring age, during the period specified in the question.
