Written Answers. - Fish Kill Statistics.

27 Tomás Mac Giolla asked the Minister for the Marine the number of fish kills reported so far this year and the number of fish believed to have been lost as a result; the way in which these figures compare with last year; the total cost of restocking as a result of this year's fish kills; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Fifty-one fish kills were notified to my Department in the period up to the end of November of this year which are the latest figures available. It is not possible to say how many fish were killed in these incidents.

In 1989 there were 111 fish kill incidents reported. Estimates of the cost of restocking are not available at present.
