Ceist:81 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Social Welfare the reason a person (details supplied) in Dublin 3 has still not received his unemployment assistance; and when it is intended to restore his payments.

The claim of the person concerned was disallowed by a deciding officer on the basis that he was not available for or genuinely seeking employment. He appealed the decision to the social welfare appeals office and, in November, an independent appeals officer in that office also decided that he was not genuinely seeking work.
He continued to sign the unemployed register and his entitlement since the date of the appeals officer's decision was recently reviewed by a deciding officer who again disallowed his claim on the same grounds. This latest decision makes it possible for the person concerned to lodge a new appeal if he feels that his circumstances have changed since the November appeal hearing.
Enda Kenny
Ceist:82 Mr. Kenny asked the Minister for Social Welfare if unemployment assistance will be awarded to a person (details supplied) in County Mayo whose appeal was recently dealt with.
In August the unemployment assistance claim of the person concerned was disallowed by an appeals officer with effect from 31 January 1990 on the grounds that his means exceeded the statutory limit for receipt of a qualification certificate.
In November he asked that his means be reviewed from a current date. Further investigations are at present being conducted before his claim is submitted to a deciding officer for decision.
