238 Mr. Leonard asked the Minister for Energy the value of gas cylinders imported in the last year for which figures are available; and the percentage this represents of the requirements of the Irish market.
The information is not readily available in the form requested by the Deputy. Liquid petroleum gas (LPG) is mostly imported in bulk and bottled here. In 1989, the latest full year for which figures are available, a total of 139,000 tonnes of LPG were consumed in the Irish market. This accounted for 2.3 per cent of Ireland's total final energy consumption in 1989.
