Ceist:384 Tomás Mac Giolla asked the Minister for Education the current position in relation to the approval of a post of caretaker at the recently opened post primary school on Arranmore Island, County Donegal.

My Department received a request from County Donegal VEC for caretaker facilities for the vocational school at Arranmore Island.
Having had regard to the overall maintenance staff situation in County Donegal VEC, including Arranmore, a letter issued from this Department on 17 December 1990, conveying sanction for the appointment of one wholetime equivalent head of maintenance staff to the committee's scheme. It was open to the committee to use this increase in staff as it saw fit and in which ever area(s) had the most need.
I understand the committee decided to allocate the wholetime post to another school in the scheme.
