Vol. 404 No. 5

Written Answers. - Holiday Pay.

Brian O'Shea

Ceist:

83 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Education if she will outline the entitlement to holiday pay of a person (details supplied) in Waterford who is employed in a full-time temporary capacity as a teacher in St. Joseph's special school, Waterford, from the commencement of his employment on 24 January, 1983; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

The teacher in question is in fact employed in a part-time capacity. He has no entitlement to holiday pay in respect of his employment in St. Joseph's school.

My Department have already introduced a scheme which provides for the employment of certain part-time teachers on a full-year basis involving payment on an annual pro rata salary. The question of extending the scheme to other schools such as St. Joseph's is at present being considered.
