As the Deputy will be aware in the majority of amalgamation cases the initiative has been from the local community for such an amalgamation.
The number of schools which closed or merged with other schools since 1987 are: (a) Primary Schools, 71; (b) Secondary Schools, 24; (c) Vocational Schools, 10.
