Ceist:248 Mr. Bell asked the Minister for Justice if he has any plans to alter the regulations in relation to local raffles and lotteries; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The law relating to local raffles and lotteries was considered by the Costello Committee which was set up to investigate the adequacy of existing statutory controls on fund raising activities for charitable and other purposes. The report of the committee is being examined in my Department and any legislative proposals which I may have in relation to these matters will be announced in the normal way in due course.
