Vol. 405 No. 7

Written Answers. - Social Employment Schemes.

Mary Flaherty

Ceist:

25 Miss Flaherty asked the Minister for Labour if he will consider the possibility of establishing a quota of places on social employment schemes for women seeking to return to work after family responsibilities, as current regulations exclude them.

The Programme for Economic and Social Progress, recently negotiated between the Government and the social partners, provides, in paragraph 124, section V, that the live register requirements in the case of women applicants should be relaxed to facilitate women who wish to return to the workforce. I am at present considering how this can be progressed.
