Vol. 405 No. 7

Written Answers. - Protection of Security Employees.

Gerry O'Sullivan

Ceist:

36 Mr. G. O'Sullivan asked the Minister for Labour if he has any plans to introduce measures to protect the rights of employees in the security industry.

There is already in existence a registered employment agreement for the security industry. This agreement, which is registered with the Labour Court, lays down statutory minimum pay and certain conditions of employment for static guards employed in the security industry. It is open to the employer and trade union bodies who are parties to the agreement to amend the agreement to cover all employees in the security industry or to consider having a joint labour committee established for the industry.
