Vol. 405 No. 7
56 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Finance the reason detailed figures are not available for the amount of VAT collected in each district.
As I pointed out to the Deputy in my reply of 19 February 1991, internal value-added tax is collected centrally. As a consequence, the structure of the VAT computer file does not lend itself to the ready production of the type of statistics requested by the Deputy. However, in an effort to be as helpful as possible, the Revenue Commissioners will deploy some computer and personnel resources over the coming weeks to extract figures which will provide a reasonable indication of the breakdown of the total internal VAT yield in 1990 among the various districts. I will let the Deputy have this information as soon as it is available.
