Vol. 405 No. 7

Written Answers. - Employment Act Award.

Patrick McCartan

Ceist:

70 Mr. McCartan asked the Minister for Labour when a person (details supplied) in Dublin 17 will receive payment under the Minimum Notice and Terms of Employment Act, 1973, as his claim was lodged in July 1990; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The employee concerned was awarded a sum by the Employment Appeals Tribunal under the Minimum Notice and Terms of Employment Act, 1973. As the employer failed to make payment, the employee referred the matter to my Department in accordance with the terms of the Act whereby the Minister for Labour is empowered to institute proceedings for the recovery of such sums. The case has been referred to the Chief State Solicitor's Office for consideration as to the institution of legal proceedings. My Department will be in contact with the employee as soon as there are developments in the matter.
