66 Mr. Currie asked the Minister for Tourism, Transport and Communications whether he has given a deadline to NESC for the review of the viability plan of An Post; if not, when he expects the report to be completed; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
The NESC have been requested to study the socio-economic implications of two aspects of An Post's proposals to return the company to profitability, viz, the closure of a number of sub-post offices and the provision of roadside letter boxes. I have indicated to NESC that I wish to have the study completed if possible within a period of six months.
