Vol. 406 No. 1

Written Answers. - Garda Correspondence.

Roger T. Garland

Ceist:

30 Mr. Garland asked the Minister for Justice the reason correspondence from the gardaí does not contain the telephone number of the particular station or sub-station; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I am informed by the Garda authorities that since Garda letter heads are printed in bulk it is not feasible to include in them the telephone number of each individual issuing office or station. However, it is already the practice in many Garda offices to quote an appropriate telephone number in all correspondence with the public and there are proposals to standardise this practice throughout the force as part of a general re-vamping of Garda forms, notices and station records.
