Vol. 406 No. 1

Written Answers. - Opening of Legal Aid Centres.

Michael Bell

Ceist:

66 Mr. Bell asked the Minister for Justice if his attention has been drawn to the fact that the Legal Aid Board will be unable to advertise the opening of the proposed additional law centres; his views on whether such advertising will only serve to accelerate the date on which such new law centres will be forced to close their doors due to work backlogs, which the one solicitor in the law centre will be unable to clear.

The opening of the three new law centres, once approved, will be announced in the usual way and will, I am sure, be advertised locally by the board. The board's explanatory leaflet on the scheme will be revised to take account of the fact that it will be operating 15 full-time law centres and an increased number of part-time law centres.
