Vol. 406 No. 3

Written Answers. - Waterford Hospital Development.

Brian O'Shea

Ceist:

103 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Health the up-to-date position in relation to the detailed proposal, which has been submitted by Waterford Regional Hospital to his Department, for additional funding to enable all patients from the south east, who are commuting to Dublin, to be dialysised at Waterford; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Proposals from the South Eastern Health Board for the development of the renal dialysis service provided at Waterford Regional Hospital, Ardkeen are being examined by my Department.

I am most anxious to ensure that, where possible, patients receive their dialysis locally and the provision of additional dialysis facilities at Waterford Regional Hospital will be considered as sympathetically as possible in the context of the overall development plan for the new regional hospital.
