Generally speaking, the Office of Public Works have responsibility for the upkeep and maintenance of the original bridges over the Royal Canal which have not been improved or enlarged by the local authorities. Such bridges have generally been dedicated to local authorities. Arrangements have been put in train to have the side wall of Clarkes Bridge, Summerhill Parade, Dublin 1, which appears to have been damaged by vandals, repaired as quickly as possible.
