129 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Health the immediate measures he proposes to take to rectify the under-provision of social workers in County Waterford; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
I am not aware of any gross under-provision of social workers in County Waterford, nor has this matter been raised with my Department by the South-Eastern Health Board.
Regarding arrangements for the recruitment of social workers, I should explain to the Deputy that my Department's personnel policy provides health agencies with flexibility to target staffing resources to areas of particular priority within the context of overall approved staffing ceiling and annual financial parameters.
