Vol. 406 No. 7

Written Answers. - Departmental Correspondence.

Nora Owen

Ceist:

202 Mrs. Owen asked the Minister for the Environment if he will investigate the reason his Department have not yet replied to a letter from Dublin Country Council dated 19 October 1989 relating to Upper Carrickhill Road, Portmarnock, County Dublin; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

In March 1990, following representations from local people about the Upper Carrickhill Road project, my Department's attention was drawn to this letter of which there was no record in the Department. A copy of the letter was subsequently forwarded to the Department but while the local representations were replied to, the local authority letter was inadvertently overlooked. The county council have now been informed that the cost of any works at this location falls to be financed from the local authority's own resources supplemented by the discretionary grants for regional and county roads. Discretionary grants totalling £1.395 million have been allocated to Dublin County Council for 1991.
