Ceist:141 Mr. Leonard asked the Minister for Finance whether it is proposed to proceed with the drainage of the Finn/Lackey River when the Monaghan Blackwater arterial scheme is completed.

It is not proposed to proceed with a drainage scheme for the Finn/Lacky river catchment at the present time. This project was considered as a joint venture by the Office of Public Works and the Department of Agriculture for Northern Ireland but it was found that the engineering options for improving drainage conditions in the catchment did not meet the appraisal criteria of either Government.
