Vol. 407 No. 2

Written Answers. - Policing of Killiney, Dublin.

Seán Barrett

Ceist:

75 Mr. S. Barrett asked the Minister for Justice if his attention has been drawn to the problems being caused by gangs of youths descending on Killiney village, County Dublin, at weekends causing damage to windows and cars and terrorising the residents, particularly the elderly; if he has any plans to increase the Garda manpower to enable the area to be adequately policed; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I am informed by the Garda authorities that special Garda patrols were introduced in the Killiney village and Killiney Hill areas earlier this month following incidents which involved a gang of youths from outside the area. Since the introduction of these patrols, there has been no recurrence of these incidents.
